Emma has been doing work as a freelance photographer since she was gifted her first digital camera in 2018. She earned an Associate in Applied Arts, specializing in Photographic Media, from Tidewater Community College in 2025. 

Emma values the storytelling power of photography. Growing up in a family that moved all across the country, she was immersed in a variety of different cultures, each of which shaped her perspective in unique ways. These experiences fostered a deep appreciation for the complexity of the human experience. Photography became a means of exploring diverse viewpoints, and bridging narrow narratives to uncover broader, more nuanced understandings of the world.

Multiple photographic formats are employed in her work, including digital, film, instant, and disposable cameras.  Occasionally, she enjoys stacking and combining photos into collages that transform natural landscapes into fictitious realms with underlying narratives. She is particularly fascinated by the origin of photography, and strives to fuse modern perspectives with vintage techniques.
